Credit Scoring for SMEs in Tanzania

My first professional experience in the sector was when my partner and I moved to Tanzania straight out of University. We spent the better part of 18 months there. This was absolutely baptism by fire, and was a time of deep learning for me. In my role as consultant I:

• Designed and implemented the first credit scoring tool for SME loans at the largest Bank in Tanzania.

• Created and MSME loan product for trained entrepreneurs, focused on decreasing the timelines and barriers to accessing capital.

I am forever grateful for the experience I was allowed to build, and the advice from our seasoned executive team.

It was also in Tanzania where I realized the impact of startup capital for entrepreneurs. Pictured here is my friend Frank, the inspiration and foundation of my career in start-up finance.
